“If we all did the things we are capable of,
we would astound ourselves”.
Thomas Edison

People often wait a long time before seeing a therapist. Understandably, it’s not easy to acknowledge that we aren’t coping on our own.

We might try to block out thoughts and feelings by suppressing them, by keeping busy, or by using alcohol and drugs. We also might give ourselves a hard time for thinking or feeling a certain way, or we might judge our own behaviour. We can develop unhelpful patterns of thinking and behaving that we get stuck in, and which maintain our difficulties.

You might want to feel better about yourself, adjust to a major life event, understand yourself, have better relationships, take more control over your life, or even stop doing risky or harmful things. If it was easy, you’d have done it by now.

We can work together to explore and change the unhelpful patterns that have got you stuck, and have got in the way of you living the life you want.

I enjoy working alongside people and seeing them achieve great results in line with what is important to them.

I work with adults and adolescents with a wide range of mental health problems, including stress, anxiety, mood difficulties, adjustment to significant life events or traumatic incidents, anger, low self esteem, self harm, eating disorders, and other difficulties.

As a clinical psychologist, I have specialist training in treating peoples’ psychological difficulties using a range of therapeutic models. In practice, I often integrate skills and techniques from different approaches, including cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), schema therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT). It is important to me to find what will work for you, while also using interventions that are informed by the research evidence.

Why choose to see a clinical psychologist?

I am a registered practitioner with Axa PPP, Aviva and Bupa.  If your insurer provides cover for psychological treatment, and you want to arrange for your treatment to be paid through them, please mention this when you contact me.
